It’s a tiny, historic chateau that was purchased by the Wertheimer/Chanel group who brought it back to its prior glory, and way beyond! 2009 Canon is one of the great St. Emilions, rated 99 points for only $179 bottle (for an 11-year old Bordeaux).

This 99 pointer is also from the incredible 2009 vintage, one of the top vintages to ever come out of Bordeaux. It’s a brilliant vintage – in fact, the best Chateaunuef du Pape vintage since 2007, and it sets the new standard for what is possible in Chateauneuf du Pape. It’s the 1982 Bordeaux moment of the Rhone.

Wine critic Jeb Dunnuck had this to say: "The 2016s are on another level... this is truly an extraordinary vintage… This is the greatest young vintage from the Southern Rhône Valley I’ve ever tasted, both in terms of quality as well as consistency.”

While Piero Antinori was creating and expanding the Super Tuscan concept at their family’s estates with “global” examples of Tignanello, Solaia and Guado Al Tasso, Lodovico Antinori founded one of the most “classic” Super Tuscan estates with icons Ornellaia and Masseto and dedicated 20 years to making Ornellaia one of the most highly regarded wine estates in the world. In 2002, Lodovico Antinori sold Tenuta dell’Ornellaia to Robert Mondavi Winery in order to devote himself completely to his new project, Tenuta di Biserno, the first joint venture between him and his brother, Piero, outside of their family business.

Calling all California Cabernet lovers! This is a deal you don’t want to miss! Today, we’re featuring the 97 point 2015 Capture Cabernet Sauvignon Revelation, a super limited production Cabernet from northern Sonoma county with only 217 cases made.

Owner and winemaker, Denis Malbec, was actually born at Chateau Latour where his family had worked for the famous Pauillac first growth while growing up. Denis honed his skills as the Cellar Master at Chateau Latour from 1994 – 2000.

In 2000, after a visit to California, he decided to make the move to the US permanent. Malbec was the winemaker for Kapcsandy and Blankiet before launching Capture, which sits 3,000 feet above sea level in the Mayacamas mountains. Sadly, Denis Malbec suddenly passed away in 2016, and the property has been recently sold.

2015 Xavier Chateaunuef du Pape Cuvee Anonyme (Rhone) – 2015 is considered a top vintage for Chateauneuf du Pape. Robert Parker Wine Advocate praised this vintage, stating, "As to the 2015s, this is a truly sensational vintage that should not be missed by any Rhone lover out there." This Chateauneuf is a massive 96 pointer that’s perfect chilled or room temperature for outdoor grilling. At only $47.95, it’s been called “a serious winner in the vintage” by wine critic Jeb Dunnuck.

Spring is right around the corner, and that means more hours of daylight and warmer temperatures. It’s also the time of year when we wine lovers move to more seasonally appropriate wines, and Chablis is one of our favorite wines to pour and enjoy when it’s warm outside.

Chablis is located in northern Burgundy, and the cool climate produces wines that are sometimes described as “steely” or “flinty.” Most Chablis is vinified in stainless steel tanks, and it’s the crispest white Burgundy of them all. Chablis is 100% Chardonnay and is known for having less fruit flavors than Chardonnay grown in warmer climates like California. Some describe California Chardonnay as having the potential to be over-concentrated and over-oaked. However, this is not what you get with Chablis. If you’ve ever enjoyed a Chablis, you know that wines from Chablis have a very distinct style marked by minerality, raciness and steeliness.
